Home Doctor; Practical Medicine for Every Household

The crazy cost of an emergency room visit is getting out of hand and out of financial range for most people.  Even if you have a decent healthcare program you are likely to spend $120 to $265 just to get the ball rolling, heaven forbid you have to be admitted. Nine times out of ten the reason you came there is because you need a little more than a Band-Aid.  How comforting it is to know that within an hour's drive, you can reach the sliding doors of medical help. But what if after some unforeseen natural disaster, the nearest hospital is not reachable or may be totally overwhelmed with patients. What a helpless feeling to know that your chance of getting help is slim.  Most people in the states remember Katrina and what a medical disaster that was, but nothing compared to the horror in Venezuela. I am not a doomsday prepper but having certain common supplies on hand can save your life or at least allow you to hold on to get more advanced help. My unit spent 2 years isolated in the desert of Iraq with the most important supplies that we needed. This brings me to The Home Doctor, one of the best books on home medical preparedness available.  My opinion, of course!
